About the position

DeepWalk Research, Inc. is seeking a GIS and Python Solutions Specialist to join our innovative team in Chicago, IL. This full-time position offers a hybrid work schedule, allowing for both on-site and remote work. The primary focus of this role is to assist customers in creating GIS-based deliverables and enhancing our technical mapping outputs to improve usability and reduce future support tickets. You will be responsible for developing documentation and training materials that empower customers to effectively utilize DeepWalk's GIS solutions. In this role, you will collaborate closely with our data management, technical, and sales teams to implement improvements in our mapping deliverables. You will also be tasked with updating website documentation to reflect new mapping features and conducting training sessions for customers. Your ability to translate technical information into layman's terms will be crucial in ensuring that diverse audiences can understand and utilize our GIS solutions effectively. As part of your responsibilities, you will address customer support tickets, participate in team meetings, and contribute to strategic planning. You will work on various projects, such as converting GeoJSON deliverables to ArcGIS geodatabases, creating dashboards for trip hazard removal, and generating new GeoJSON mapping files using raw data from JSON databases. Responsibilities

• Assist customers in creating GIS-based deliverables.

• Use the OpenStreetMap Python API to assist in project planning.
• Generate new GeoJSON mapping files using raw data from JSON databases.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in GIS or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
• 1-5 years of professional experience in GIS-related roles.
• Proficiency in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro.
• Strong Python programming skills with multiple geospatial project examples.
• Experience with geospatial libraries: Shapely, GeoPandas, and ArcGIS Python API.
• Familiarity with GIS data formats, mapping, and visualization techniques.
• Experience in consulting or technical support roles.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to create clear documentation, reports, and proposals.
