About the position

The GIS Applications Specialist for the City of Cape Coral is responsible for maintaining and supporting the city's Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS). This role involves managing GIS-related activities across various city departments, administering ESRI Web applications, and ensuring application security. The specialist will also collaborate with user departments to improve processes and develop necessary documentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintains the city's Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS).
• Supports city staff performing GIS-related activities across the enterprise.
• Manages, administers, and publishes ESRI Web apps, datasets, imagery, StoryMaps, dashboards, portal, and data stores.
• Ensures application security management for assigned applications in conjunction with the network infrastructure group.
• Administers servers/systems in designated area or application(s), i.e., ESRI ArcGIS, Cartegraph.
• Writes additional documentation where required.
• Works closely with user departments on cross-functional process improvement teams.
• Develops business and system flow charts and related procedures and system documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in IT Technologies, Geography, or a related field; or Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a relevant field and four (4) additional years of related experience.
• Four (4) years of experience in GIS systems and processes or related software.
