About the position

As a GIS Associate, Spatial Data Engineer at Prologis, you will be an integral part of the Global Strategy and Analytics (GSA) team, which collaborates with various departments to drive the company forward. This role is designed for individuals who possess a unique blend of skills and perspectives, ranging from economics to urban planning and computer science. The GSA team is composed of four specialized groups: research, valuations, advanced analytics, and geospatial analysis, each contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the logistics real estate sector. In this position, you will engage in geospatial analysis and data modeling, developing and maintaining geospatial databases that support site selection and analysis. You will create geospatial models and workflows to identify trends, patterns, and relationships that influence business decisions. Additionally, you will analyze potential business opportunities, creating models that assess market potential and economic trends. Your role will also involve close collaboration with internal teams, including operations, customer-led solutions, capital deployment, research, energy, advanced analytics, and IT, to understand business needs and provide valuable geospatial insights. You will be expected to communicate your findings and recommendations effectively to stakeholders through presentations and meetings. Staying current with GIS and data engineering technologies is crucial, as you will be responsible for ensuring best practices and continuously improving analytical capabilities. Furthermore, you will provide training and documentation to support fellow GIS staff, fostering a culture of innovation within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct geospatial analysis and data modeling to support site selection and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain geospatial databases.
  • Create geospatial models and workflows to identify trends and patterns that impact business decisions.
  • Analyze potential business opportunities and assess market potential and economic trends.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand business needs and provide geospatial insights.
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through presentations and meetings.
  • Stay updated on GIS and data engineering technology to ensure best practices.
  • Provide training and documentation to fellow GIS staff.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional GIS analyst and data engineering experience.
  • Proficient in the Esri ArcGIS suite, including ArcGIS Pro in an Enterprise deployment.
  • Proficient in SQL and Python for data pipelines and analytical models.
  • Experience with ELT design patterns and cloud data warehousing.
  • Background in data products design and management with a data-centric engineering mentality.
  • Ability to offer creative solutions to complex business problems.
  • Ethical drive to enhance the culture of the team and company.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science or a related field (or applicable work experience).
  • Experience with Snowflake and AWS.
  • Familiarity with Tableau or other BI tools.
  • Knowledge of Spatial Types database architecture and implementation in a data warehouse.
  • Experience with big data design patterns and tooling.
  • Understanding of software development life cycle best practices.
