About the position

Ark Solutions Inc is seeking a GIS Data Architect to join our team in Lansing, MI. This position is hybrid and is expected to last for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. The GIS Data Architect will play a crucial role within the Enterprise Section, collaborating closely with the Enterprise Application Architect and Enterprise Data Architect. The successful candidate will partner with the GIS Team, application business leads, and information stewards to ensure the effective integration and management of GIS data across various applications. In this role, the GIS Data Architect will be the key resource responsible for integrating applications with the ESRI Roads and Highways system for GIS data. This involves a deep understanding of the data collected in the Roads & Highways Database, the SDE environment, and the data requirements of various applications. The architect will identify discrepancies in data and work towards achieving accuracy, standardization, and synchronization across systems. Additionally, the GIS Data Architect will assist in the annual migration of applications, contributing to the development of improved migration processes. The position requires participation in key meetings as a representative of GIS data as a Service, where the architect will articulate the GIS needs of consumer applications. Another critical responsibility includes managing the ArcGIS License Manager, which encompasses the setup, updates, and periodic addition of licenses. This role is pivotal in ensuring that GIS data is effectively utilized and integrated within the organization, supporting various business functions and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate applications with the ESRI Roads and Highways for GIS data.
  • Understand the data collected in the Roads & Highways Database and SDE environment.
  • Identify differences in data and drive towards accuracy, standardization, and synchronization.
  • Assist in the annual migration of applications and improve migration processes.
  • Participate in key meetings as a GIS data as a Service representative.
  • Manage the ArcGIS License Manager, including setup and updates.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in GIS-IT and enterprise data architecture.
  • Minimum of 2 years integrating GIS systems built on relational databases with other applications.
  • Ability to quickly comprehend the GIS needs of applications and develop smart data solutions.
  • Expert level experience with ESRI ArcGIS products such as ArcCatalog, ArcMap, or ArcPro.
  • Experience building model data workflows to extract, transform, and load GIS data using ArcGIS Model Builder.
  • Experience using the ESRI Roads and Highways Database and ESRI Versioned/non-Versioned Datasets.
  • Knowledge in Python Programming using the ArcPy and ArcGIS Python API.
  • Demonstrable experience in building GIS integration capabilities with applications.
  • Knowledge and proven skills in MS SQL Server Spatial and Oracle Spatial.
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate at all levels of the organization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Spatial ETL tools such as Safe FME.
