The GIS Data Architect position at GSK Solutions Inc is a critical role that operates under the Enterprise Section, reporting directly to the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB) Agency Services. This position is primarily focused on supporting the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Enterprise Application Architect, Enterprise Data Architect, and MDOT's GIS Team. The GIS Data Architect will work closely with application business leads, information stewards, and GIS data authors to ensure the effective integration and management of GIS data within MDOT's applications. The role requires a deep understanding of the data collected in the Roads & Highways Database and the MDOT's Spatial Data Engine (SDE) environment. The GIS Data Architect will be responsible for developing smart data solutions that meet the GIS needs of various applications, ensuring accuracy, standardization, and synchronization of data. This position also involves managing the ArcGIS License manager, which includes setting up and updating the ESRI License manager and periodically adding licenses as needed. The GIS Data Architect will participate in key meetings as a representative of the DTMB Agency Service, addressing the GIS needs of consumer applications and assisting in the annual migration of MDOT applications while working towards an improved migration process.
