The GIS Data Architect position is a critical role within the Michigan Department of Technology, Management, and Budget (DTMB) Agency Services, specifically supporting the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). This position is designed for an experienced professional who will work closely with the Enterprise Application Architect and Enterprise Data Architect. The GIS Data Architect will collaborate with various stakeholders, including MDOT's GIS Team, application business leads, information stewards, and GIS data authors and consumers. The role requires a strong understanding of GIS data integration and architecture, as well as the ability to develop effective data solutions that meet the needs of MDOT applications. In this role, the GIS Data Architect will be responsible for integrating MDOT applications with the ESRI Roads and Highways for GIS data. This involves a thorough understanding of the data collected in the Roads & Highways Database, the MDOT SDE environment, and the data requirements of MDOT applications. The architect will work to identify discrepancies in data and drive efforts towards accuracy, standardization, and synchronization. Additionally, the position will play a key role in the annual migration of MDOT applications, contributing to the development of improved migration processes. The GIS Data Architect will also manage the ArcGIS License manager, which includes setting up and updating MDOT's ESRI License manager and periodically adding licenses. This position is hybrid, requiring on-site work two days a week, and candidates must be located within a commutable distance from Lansing, MI. The role demands excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various levels of the organization and to represent DTMB Agency Services in key meetings regarding GIS data.
