About the position

The GIS Data Entry Support position is a contract role within the Office of Outdoor Recreation, specifically under the Bureau of Conservation. The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the geographic information system (GIS) for the Bureau of Parks & Conservation, producing maps and other deliverables, and contributing to various GIS projects. The position requires collaboration with operational staff and other divisions, with a focus on data-driven decision-making and spatial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Bureau of Parks & Conservation's geographic information system.
  • Produce maps and other deliverables as requested.
  • Contribute to GIS projects, including building custom GIS tools and solutions.
  • Apply spatial analysis techniques.
  • Collaborate with Tennessee State Parks operational staff and other divisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, Earth Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 2 years of relevant work experience in GIS or a related field.
  • Proficiency with Esri software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Proficiency in creating, editing, managing, and publishing GIS feature data.
  • Proficiency in cartographic design.
  • Working knowledge of geospatial analysis methods and ESRI GIS applications development.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Avenza MAPublisher.
  • Working knowledge of Arcade and/or JavaScript programming for GIS applications and API's integration.
