About the position

The GIS Drafter at Universal Services Telecom Tech LLC is responsible for creating and managing communications construction drawings within a GIS environment. This role involves mapping utility lines, preparing permit-ready drawings, and ensuring quality control of GIS data. The position requires collaboration with field teams to gather accurate information and perform geoprocessing tasks to analyze data for construction planning.

Responsibilities

• Perform Communications Construction drawings in a GIS environment.
• Map existing utility lines and plan for utility relocations using GIS tools.
• Prepare permit ready drawings by jurisdiction standards.
• Perform feature creation, attribution, and updates within GIS datasets.
• Apply policies and procedures to GIS data for quality control and quality assurance.
• Interpret new build, as-built drawings, engineering plans, and related source documents and incorporate them into GIS database.
• Work closely with field collectors to gather correct information to make a detailed drawing using various templates.
• Perform geoprocessing tasks to analyze existing and new data to identify construction routes.
• Research parcel data or records to determine noteworthy existing infrastructures to add to drawings.
• Complete as-built drawings.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or 2 years' experience in telecom engineering.
• Some GIS experience in either ESRI, ARC Pro, CADMap, 3 GIS or equivalent related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret plat maps and property survey maps.
• Strong computer skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Self-starter/self-motivated.
