About the position

The GIS Editor/Developer role at Brillius in Austin, TX, is a full-time contract position that requires a mid-level professional with a strong background in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of relevant experience in navigation and will be responsible for various tasks related to map data layers and editing. This position involves completing client project training for all map data layers and client tools training for map data editing, edit tracking, and reporting. The role also requires general skills in open-source research for corroborating map data and the ability to conduct targeted research in registered data sources. The candidate must be fluent or able to gain fluency with macOS, including applications such as Numbers, Pages, Slack, Quip, Mail, and Calendar, as well as Client Maps. Good communication skills are essential, as the role involves researching issues and editing GIS data according to the requirements set in the client ticketing system. The GIS Editor/Developer will also be responsible for escalating issues to the Project Lead when appropriate. This position is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of GIS data, which is vital for client projects and overall operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Client Project Training for all map data layers.
  • Complete Client Tools Training for map data editing, edit tracking, and reporting.
  • Conduct open-source research for map data corroboration.
  • Perform targeted research in registered data sources.
  • Edit GIS data per requirements set in the Client ticketing system.
  • Escalate issues to Project Lead where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in GIS and navigation.
  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Desktop.
  • Good communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with macOS applications such as Numbers, Pages, Slack, Quip, Mail, and Calendar.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
