About the position
The Iowa County Highway Department is actively seeking a GIS/Engineering Technician to join their team in Dodgeville, WI. This full-time position is essential for supporting the department's operations through effective management of geographic information systems and engineering tasks. The technician will be responsible for a variety of duties that include data collection, analysis, and the maintenance of GIS databases. The role requires a strong understanding of engineering principles and the ability to apply GIS technology to support infrastructure projects and planning initiatives. The technician will also collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that GIS data is accurate and up-to-date, facilitating informed decision-making processes within the county's highway department. In addition to technical skills, the position demands excellent communication and organizational abilities, as the technician will serve as a key point of contact for GIS-related inquiries and support. Responsibilities
- Track and order shop supplies, equipment, and construction parts and materials.
- Perform data entry and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Reconcile parts and supplies to ensure accuracy and availability.
- Serve as the main point of contact within the shop for inventory-related inquiries.
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations related to inventory and procurement.
- Collaborate with other departments to support infrastructure projects and planning initiatives.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of a two-year Associate's Degree in Purchasing/Procurement, Public Works, Business Administration, Accounting, or a closely related field required; preference for a Bachelor's Degree.
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles.
- Proficiency in personal computer applications and software relevant to inventory management.
- Experience in Commercial Fleet Operations, Parts Warehouse, or Inventory Management and Reconciliation is required.
- Preference for experience in Public Works, Highway Department, or Construction industry.
