About the position
The City of Valdosta is seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Intern. This position involves interaction with City, and Southern Regional Commission/VALOR GIS staff. The responsibilities include many aspects of Geographic Information Systems, including data creation, development, maintenance, and map production. This individual will also assist the Cemetery Supervisor in a variety of tasks, including projects in the field, and GIS desktop and online environments that will cover a wide array of practical GIS uses.
Responsibilities
- Interact with City and Southern Regional Commission/VALOR GIS staff.
- Engage in data creation, development, maintenance, and map production.
- Assist the Cemetery Supervisor in various tasks and projects in the field.
- Work with GIS desktop and online environments.
Requirements
- Knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop software.
- Experience in creation and manipulation of spatial datasets.
- Ability to utilize the ArcGIS Online environment in solutions.
- Skills in analyzing user requirements for GIS solutions.
- Experience in planning and coordinating the implementation of new solutions.
- Ability to create clear technical documentation of solutions when needed.
- Minimum 1 semester of GIS coursework.
- Possess professional interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow written and oral communication instructions.
- Must be able to work flexible hours if needed.
