About the position
The City of Luling is seeking a full-time GIS/Mapping Utility Locator to perform locates on existing utility services and assist with code enforcement investigations. This role involves using mobile applications and GPS technology to document and manage utility services, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Perform locates on existing electric, water, and wastewater utility services.
- GPS new utilities and repairs of existing utilities.
- Assist the Code Enforcement Officer with investigations and evaluations related to code violations.
- Determine the presence of nuisance violations, health hazards, and unsafe building conditions.
- Document findings and maintain accurate records of utility locations and code violations.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Computer literate with knowledge of mobile applications.
- Ability to read building schematics, plans, and drawings.
- Good physical health to perform job duties.
- Current driving record.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in GIS or mapping technologies.
- Familiarity with local building codes and regulations.
