About the position

This position involves professional, technical, and analytical work focused on the research, analysis, and design of moderately complex Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other technical software. The role includes the creation, management, and analysis of spatial data using land-based GIS applications, as well as writing code in various programming languages to develop customized web-based mapping solutions. Additionally, the position requires training staff on complex automated interactive graphics systems and staying updated on current technical and industry trends.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and design Geographic Information Systems and related software.
• Create, manage, and analyze spatial data with GIS applications.
• Write code in programming languages for customized web-based mapping.
• Respond to user requests for program modifications.
• Train staff in the use of automated interactive graphics systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, geography, engineering, planning, or a related field.
• 2-5 years of experience in a GIS environment.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Windows Server, including IIS.
• Experience with geodatabases, SQL for Oracle, Esri ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and Portal.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, CSS, HTML, ArcSDE, and Python.
• Experience in developing and implementing GIS-related user training.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to use map scales, projections, coordinate systems, and datums.
• Basic programming skills including flow charting, object-oriented design, and debugging.
• Ability to troubleshoot application errors and data integrity issues.
