About the position

The Quality Assurance Engineer role at Schneider Electric involves designing and executing test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures to ensure the quality of software applications. The position requires engagement in all stages of the software development lifecycle, from gathering requirements to final production release, with a focus on testing web applications and SaaS-based solutions. The engineer will conduct compatibility tests, manage defects, and provide feedback to developers, ensuring compliance with best practices and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures.
  • Engage in all stages of software development to ensure high quality.
  • Conduct software compatibility tests with various programs, hardware, operating systems, and network environments.
  • Test system modifications in preparation for implementation.
  • Review software documentation for technical accuracy and compliance.
  • Manage software defects and usability issues, documenting problems with program function and content.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to developers on software usability and functionality.
  • Update automated test scripts to ensure accuracy.
  • Identify program deviations from standards and suggest modifications for compliance.
  • Perform testing in accordance with Agile Scrum and Continuous Integration methodologies.
  • Document test procedures for replicability and compliance with standards.
  • Plan test schedules or strategies based on project scope and delivery dates.
  • Maintain a suite of test scripts for the test automation system, including Smoke Tests and performance tests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 5-7 years of progressive work experience in quality assurance for enterprise or GIS applications.
  • 5+ years of experience reading requirements and translating them into test plans.
  • Experience performing manual testing of Windows UI, web service APIs, and web applications across multiple environments.
  • Experience writing, running, updating, and maintaining automated test cases.
  • Experience setting up, maintaining, and operating test environments and systems.
  • Experience executing performance and load testing for various scenarios.
  • Utilization of ArcGIS, VertiGIS, or similar GIS software and its tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of best practices and standards for accessibility testing in web applications.
  • Understanding of cloud architecture related to SaaS applications.
