About the position

The GIS Specialist role at Avista involves updating and maintaining GIS data related to the company's gas and electric infrastructure. The position requires collaboration with various cross-functional teams to ensure that GIS infrastructure data is accurate and compliant with mapping requirements. The specialist will be responsible for interpreting construction designs, correcting discrepancies, and providing technical assistance to design personnel.

Responsibilities

• Reads, interprets and configures traceable elements from various sources such as services, temps, meters, and as-builts.
• Reviews, corrects, translates and completes all finished red-lined construction designs into the geo database.
• Responds to mapping and data requests from internal customers in a professional manner.
• Creates maps and visual printouts for internal customers.
• Uses built-in QA/QC tools on construction designs to ensure compliance with construction standards and government mandates.
• Reconciles discrepancies between field inventory and other source documents.
• Provides feedback and moderate technical assistance to design personnel in utilizing AFM and Design tools.
• Tests proposed AFM code releases for functionality and completeness.

Requirements

• GIS certification.
• Specialized knowledge, experience, and training on construction standards for electrical and gas distribution systems.
• 2 years of related experience for GIS Specialist I.
• 4 years of related experience for GIS Specialist II.
