About the position
The GIS Specialist at Avista Corporation is responsible for updating and maintaining GIS data related to the company's gas and electric infrastructure. This role involves collaboration with various cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with mapping requirements and the accuracy of GIS infrastructure data. The position requires a strong understanding of construction standards and the ability to resolve design conflicts within a multi-versioned GIS environment.
Responsibilities
- Updates and maintains GIS data related to Avista's gas and electric infrastructure.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams to provide up-to-date GIS infrastructure data.
- Reads, interprets, and configures traceable elements from various sources.
- Reviews, corrects, translates, and completes finished red-lined construction designs into the geo database.
- Responds to mapping and data requests from internal customers professionally.
- Creates maps and visual printouts for internal customers.
- Uses QA/QC tools on construction designs to ensure compliance with standards.
- Responsible for the health of the utility GIS data.
- Reconciles discrepancies between field inventory and source documents.
- Provides feedback and technical assistance to design personnel.
- Tests proposed AFM code releases for functionality and errors.
Requirements
- GIS certification.
- Specialized knowledge and experience in construction standards for electrical and gas distribution systems.
- 2 years of related experience for GIS Specialist I.
- 4 years of related experience for GIS Specialist II.
