About the position

The GIS Specialist will play a key role in advancing the use of GIS and digital technologies within Wood's Technical Consulting Group. This position involves managing GIS databases, producing various data deliverables, and collaborating with engineers on GIS analysis tasks. The role supports both offshore oil and gas projects and the growing clean energy market, providing an exciting opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects and clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage project GIS databases including data loading, quality assurance, and metadata.
• Produce maps, charts, reports, and other data deliverables for internal and external use.
• Develop and maintain map services and content for web-based GIS portals.
• Respond to project queries on a daily basis.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers on pipeline routing and GIS analysis tasks.
• Participate in project meetings and workshops.
• Contribute to GIS data specifications and other technical materials.
• Support internal and external training programs on GIS applications.
• Raise awareness and support the wider adoption of GIS technology through workshops, presentations, and marketing materials.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geographic Information Systems or a related Geomatics field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering support role, preferably in oil/gas subsea fields and offshore wind developments.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in ESRI ArcGIS products including ArcGIS Server and 3D Analyst.
• Strong SQL Server or related RDBMS skills.
• A good working knowledge of AutoCAD, Global Mapper, and data exchange with ESRI products.
• Experience working with digital elevation models and performing terrain analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work extended hours as required to deliver projects.
• Ability to work well in a team environment to deliver on team goals.
• Self-motivated and requiring minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in oil/gas subsea fields and offshore wind developments is highly desirable.
• Relevant onshore experience will also be considered.
• Experience working in Microsoft Teams.
