About the position

The GL Accountant position is a full-time contract role focused on supporting the finance team within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in accounts payable processes, particularly using SAP, to ensure accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and reconciliation of accounts. This role is critical for maintaining financial compliance and improving operational efficiency in accounts payable activities.

Responsibilities

  • Review, verify, and process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy in coding and adherence to company policies.
  • Utilize SAP for transaction entries, data management, and reporting, maintaining accurate records within the ERP system for all accounts payable activities.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with vendors, resolve payment issues, and handle discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations for accounts payable, including three-way matching and account statement review.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities by balancing accounts payable sub-ledger to the general ledger and preparing journal entries as needed.
  • Ensure all financial transactions comply with internal and external audit requirements, as well as industry regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline AP processes and increase efficiency within the department.
  • Generate and analyze monthly AP aging reports, accruals, and other financial reports to support management decisions.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of accounts payable experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in SAP (mandatory) and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups).
  • Strong understanding of AP processes, general ledger functions, and reconciliation.
  • High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and analytical skills in handling financial data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience.
