About the position

The General Ledger (GL) Accountant will collaborate with key Accounting team members to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, maintaining records of assets, liabilities, and profit and loss within the organization. This role also involves overseeing capital projects to ensure proper controls and capitalization.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile and analyze the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss accounts.
  • Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  • Report to management regarding the finances of the establishment.
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  • Prepare revenue and cost analysis, or other management reports.
  • Prepare periodic reports that compare budgeted costs to actual costs.
  • Prepare schedules and documents for external audits.
  • Prepare forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping personnel and direct their work activities.
  • Work with project managers to ensure proper accounting, controls, and capitalization of CIP.
  • Report any ideas for efficiency and continuous improvement to Supervisors.
  • Support the VP of Finance and other financial professionals in their duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or other relevant major preferred
  • 1-5 years of relevant work experience, (General Ledger analysis, accrual, and inventory)
  • Must come from manufacturing/distribution industry
  • Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, vlookups)
  • Good verbal and communication skills
  • Attention to Detail
  • Strong Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Organized and able to handle and prioritize multiple initiatives at once
  • Professional and have a positive attitude
