About the position

The Glass/Glazing Drafter position involves utilizing CAD software to create detailed drawings for various glazing projects, ensuring compliance with building codes and collaborating with project stakeholders. This role is essential for producing accurate technical documentation and specifications for commercial glass installations.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to create detailed and precise drawings for glazing projects.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to understand project specifications and design intent.
• Generate technical drawings, elevations, cross-sections, and shop drawings for glazing systems.
• Ensure all drafted designs adhere to relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
• Identify and specify appropriate glazing materials, glass types, and hardware components required for each project.
• Maintain and manage drawing revisions, ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with other drafting team members and project stakeholders to streamline communication and project progress.
• Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of drafted drawings to meet quality standards and client expectations.
• Analyze design challenges and propose creative solutions to optimize glazing performance and aesthetics.
• Stay updated with the latest glazing technologies and industry trends to enhance drafting techniques and capabilities.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or higher in Architectural Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Glazing Drafter, with at least 3 years of relevant drafting experience in the glazing or construction industry.
• Proficiency in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of glazing systems, glass types, and architectural detailing.
• Knowledge of building codes and regulations related to glazing and construction.
• Precise and meticulous approach to drafting, with a keen eye for accuracy.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and project stakeholders.
• Capable of handling multiple drafting projects and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to identify and resolve design issues and challenges.
