About the position

The Global Account Manager at Cogent Communications is responsible for identifying and generating new business opportunities within a designated regional sales territory. This role focuses on B2B sales in the telecom sector, particularly targeting IP Transit, content creators, carriers, and netcentric companies. The position emphasizes consultative selling techniques and relationship building to provide connectivity solutions to clients, leveraging Cogent's extensive global network.

Responsibilities

  • Identify new business opportunities within a prescribed Regional Sales Territory.
  • Source and hunt for new business opportunities within a global sales territory.
  • Target market segments including IP Transit, content creators/hosters, carriers/wholesalers, and netcentric companies.
  • Conduct direct calling, emailing, and contact efforts to identify, qualify, and generate new business opportunities.
  • Engage in onsite customer meetings as needed to complement prospecting and selling efforts.
  • Utilize consultative and relationship-building selling techniques to identify current and future connectivity solutions.
  • Position Cogent's services for new business by leveraging the global network footprint.

Requirements

  • 3-8+ years of solid B2B sales experience in a telecom arena with collocation, wholesale experience, and data transit and transport.
  • Proven track record of success in a direct hunting B2B sales role and quota achievement.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, qualify, and generate new business through extensive prospecting and research.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment with revenue deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office and a CRM is a plus.
  • A college degree is preferred but not required.
