The Global Automation Engineer will work closely with 450 engineers across the organization, providing expert technical knowledge and leadership in automation and controls to enhance business processes and productivity. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for designing and developing automation solutions that align with the organization's strategic objectives. This includes collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements, evaluate technology solutions, and design automated workflows. The engineer will implement automation projects across multiple locations, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices while overseeing the installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of automation systems. Additionally, the engineer will provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance as needed. The Global Automation Engineer will also evaluate and select the best technology solutions for the company's automation needs, staying current with the latest developments in automation technologies and tools. Compliance with industry standards and regulations is paramount, and the engineer will develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for automation systems to ensure regulatory compliance. Furthermore, the role involves developing and leading a global team of automation professionals, including hiring, training, and mentoring team members. The engineer will set performance goals, conduct evaluations, and provide guidance to ensure the team's success. Partnering with other departments such as operations, procurement, IT, finance, and R&D is essential to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions that drive efficiency and improve business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide up-to-date and relevant expert technical knowledge and leadership in support of all Syngenta business units.
  • Seek out, identify, communicate, and encourage examples of best practice from within and outside Syngenta.
  • Proactively support sites and business units to maintain technical capability at appropriate levels.
  • Design and develop automation solutions that improve business processes, increase productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Implement automation projects across multiple locations, ensuring consistency and adherence to best practices.
  • Evaluate and select the best technology solutions for the company's automation needs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations, including safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and lead a global team of automation professionals, including hiring, training, and mentoring team members.
  • Partner with other departments to identify automation opportunities and implement solutions that improve business processes.

Requirements

  • Minimum experience level: 7 to 15 years
  • Engineering degree or equivalent
  • Technical skills to develop fit-for-purpose engineering solutions
  • Experience in leading global change programs
  • Ability to develop engineering strategy
  • Functional leadership development experience
