About the position

The Global Business position at Afton Chemical Corporation is responsible for leading the integration, development, and execution of the global Industrial strategy. This role ensures alignment and operational efficiency across business activities, priorities, resources, and communication across regions and functions. The position involves problem-solving major business issues to achieve optimal global outcomes and requires strategic planning and execution of long-term and annual operating plans.

Responsibilities

  • Develop the five-year long-range plan for the SBU, including goals, objectives, strategy, and tactics.
  • Refine and consolidate the demand forecast, regional marketing plans, product and customer strategies, and manufacturing and supply requirements.
  • Establish and monitor the profit and loss (P&L) for the global business, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Develop and advocate for business cases for capital investment in facilities and operations.
  • Monitor approved capital project spend and working capital in collaboration with the Supply team.
  • Lead the implementation of the SBU acquisition (M&A) plan with Corporate Development.
  • Manage the R&D project portfolio and make key decisions on R&D plans and investments.
  • Prepare and assess business investment proposals for R&D projects.
  • Develop and manage the intellectual property strategy as the IP team leader.
  • Participate in Integrated Business Planning (IBP) teams related to Sales and Operational planning.
  • Develop business continuity plans and security of supply plans.
  • Conduct risk assessments and set project priorities and budgets for the SBU.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Business or a science-related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, ideally including sales, marketing, manufacturing, engineering, product management, or a previous role in the Business team.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Afton's business goals and P&L drivers.
  • Strong analytical and assessment skills with the ability to think strategically and understand complex issues.
  • Effective leadership skills and the ability to work productively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with effective listening and active communication abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make sound decisions based on available data and cross-functional input.
  • Motivated self-starter who consistently performs at a high level without prompting.
