About the position

The Global Client Event Manager at American Express Global Business Travel (GBT) is responsible for developing and executing engaging, client-centric events that effectively communicate GBT's story to external audiences. This role requires a detail-oriented and creative individual who is passionate about creating exceptional experiences in both virtual and in-person formats. The position is a contract role with potential for permanent hire, emphasizing collaboration with global teams to achieve business goals through memorable client experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the global experiential events team to plan, implement, and lead client-focused activations of all sizes.
  • Deliver memorable client experiences in both virtual and in-person formats.
  • Complete a variety of engagements simultaneously.
  • Assist in the site selection and contracting process, including sourcing venues and vendors for catering, decor, technology, audio-visual elements, transportation, and entertainment.
  • Contribute to and support the global client engagement program strategy.
  • Maintain oversight of execution and event budget.
  • Work in partnership with the regional communications lead to ensure content deliverables are incorporated into the overall event presence.
  • Co-manage the global activation calendar on behalf of the event experience program.
  • Work collaboratively with a core partner team of meeting planners to ensure efficient event activation.
  • Own event communications and updates to executive partners.

Requirements

  • Strong practical and technical knowledge of both virtual event planning tools and practices as well as in-person event management expertise.
  • Experience creating dynamic and engaging virtual experiences.
  • Ability to partner with internal and external executive customers.
  • Experience handling vendor relationships and negotiations.
  • Successful track record of completing multi-faceted events and external engagements in support of global business priorities.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, including planning and execution.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet tight deadlines in a challenging environment.
  • Desire to be part of a high-performing global team.
  • Time zone agnostic with experience in communicating within a global, matrixed organization.
  • Resilient self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and flexibility.
  • Knowledge of technology and/or software solutions.
