About the position

As a Global Demand Planner at Oerlikon Metco US, Inc., you will play a crucial role in forecasting product demands to optimize cash flow, sales levels, and service. This position is based in our Plymouth, MI facility and requires a collaborative approach, working closely with various stakeholders including Sales, Marketing, Finance, Sourcing, and Manufacturing Operations. Your analytical skills will be essential in utilizing marketing and sales data to make informed predictions about future product demands. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating global forecasts at the product level, developing planning strategies, and managing regional allocations. You will release orders from distribution centers to manufacturing sites and ensure that volume allocations align with sales priorities. Your ability to work cooperatively with departments such as production planning, quality assurance, operations, and procurement will be vital to the success of the planning process. Additionally, you will monitor and report on inventory and service level KPIs, ensuring that the portfolio of finished goods manufactured at the site is effectively managed. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, particularly in handling large datasets and utilizing tools like Excel and Power BI. You will interface with regional sales planners and local production planners, necessitating excellent communication skills to adapt your messaging to various stakeholders. Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the global forecast evaluation on product level, planning strategies and regional allocation.
  • Release orders from the distribution centers to the manufacturing site.
  • Manage volume allocation to regional distribution centers and drop-shipments within the region in consultation with sales priorities.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as production planning, quality assurance, operations, and procurement.
  • Monitor and ensure regular MRP runs.
  • Track and report on inventory and service level KPIs, broken down by location.
  • Oversee the portfolio of finished goods manufactured by the site.
  • Interface with regional sales planners, customer service, and local production planners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or Business.
  • Minimum 5 years of Supply Chain, Planning or Forecast and/or related experience.
  • Understanding of Demand and Distribution Planning principles; APICS/Forecast training and certification highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to provide recommendations.
  • Proficient in Excel and capable of handling large amounts of data.
  • Experience with databases; knowledge of Power BI is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to adapt communication to different stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.
  • Positive and open-minded in interactions with counterparts.
  • Ability to structure and synthesize data and processes.
  • Result-oriented and deadline-driven.
