About the position

The Global Director of Sustainability at Baltimore Aircoil Company (BAC) is a pivotal role responsible for leading and providing strategic direction for sustainability initiatives across the organization. This position is tasked with establishing and managing a comprehensive framework to assess BAC's global impact on society and the environment, while also ensuring compliance with regulatory environmental and safety standards. The Global Director will collaborate with various stakeholders to minimize the environmental impact of BAC's operations and products, thereby creating value for customers and aligning with the company's mission and vision. In this highly visible and transformational role, the Global Director will focus on leading change, influencing, and communicating both internally and externally. This includes coordinating with key stakeholders, customers, and employees to spearhead sustainability initiatives. The role involves developing BAC's global sustainability strategy, with a strong emphasis on driving sustainable products and solutions. The Director will set objectives and milestones to achieve both short-term and long-term sustainability goals, integrating these strategies into the functional areas of the company. The Global Director will also be responsible for measuring and reducing BAC's energy and environmental impact across all business areas, from product development to operations and customer delivery. This includes developing methodologies to assess the success of sustainability initiatives, implementing corporate programs to drive awareness, and creating engagement opportunities for employees, suppliers, customers, and partners. The position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability considerations are embedded in business strategy, operations, product development, and supply chain management. Additionally, the Director will lead ESG reporting practices, including the creation and publication of the company's annual ESG report, and will maintain a global network within key sustainability-related NGOs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the company's global Sustainability strategy, focusing on sustainable products and solutions.
  • Establish the overall Sustainability framework, including objectives and milestones for short and long-term goals.
  • Set direction to measure and reduce BAC's energy and environmental impact across all business areas.
  • Develop methodologies to assess the viability or success of Sustainability initiatives.
  • Implement corporate programs to drive awareness and achieve intended sustainability targets.
  • Create engagement opportunities for employees, suppliers, customers, and partners aligned with BAC's mission.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Sustainability into business strategy and operations.
  • Develop and execute project management, operational, and change management strategies related to business initiatives.
  • Develop relevant benchmarks, metrics, and goals for sustainability initiatives.
  • Liaise with global employees on the development of common metrics and reporting tools.
  • Work with Global and Regional Marketing to implement successful marketing and communication strategies.
  • Act as a thought leader in Sustainability, educating stakeholders on current and future challenges.
  • Lead BAC's ESG reporting practices, including the annual ESG report.
  • Develop contacts and a global network within important Sustainability-related NGOs.
  • Research and evaluate evolving Sustainability-related legislation and best practices.
  • Take a leadership role on the Amsted's ESG Committee.
  • Manage ESG schedules and budgets, identifying synergies between EHS and Sustainability goals.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or similar in engineering, environmental science, social sciences, human rights, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of direct experience in business and human rights, social performance, or environmental sustainability.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing professionals and business leaders.
  • Deep understanding of Sustainability principles, frameworks, and reporting standards.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful Sustainability strategies in a corporate setting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of other languages is an advantage but not necessary.
