About the position
The Global Field Service Technical Specialist at John Crane is responsible for providing on-site service and assistance for Turbomachinery products, primarily supporting compressor manufacturers and end-user customers. This role is integral to the Global Turbomachinery team, focusing on expanding the company's service and product offerings in alignment with corporate objectives. The position requires extensive travel, both domestically and internationally, to deliver technical support and training to customers.
Responsibilities
- Onsite Dry Gas Seal removal, strip, inspection, rebuild and installation into Turbo compressors.
- Identify and assist customers with upgrades of all Turbomachinery products.
- Understand and report upon the commercial opportunities of each customer site visited through site surveys and customer interaction.
- Provide training to customers on gas seal and system related subjects.
- Troubleshoot on all Turbomachinery products.
- Create comprehensive customer reports outlining all site activities, observations, recommendations, and actions.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required, college preferred.
- Minimum 3 years' field service experience.
- Prior experience with turbomachinery (compressors and turbines).
- Operational gas seal inspection and build hands-on experience.
- Good communication skills.
- Willingness and proven capability to travel at short notice.
- Capable of reading general assembly drawings.
- Ability to work under pressure and take a methodical approach to work.
- Must have a license to operate a motorized vehicle and the ability to drive overseas.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability of year-round on-call support.
- Experience working for a global company and in a diverse work environment is a plus.
- Self-motivated and a collaborative contributor.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
