About the position

The Global Group Head of Biostatistics at Novartis will lead a team of biostatisticians in the renal disease area, influencing drug development strategies and trial designs. This role emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and the application of advanced statistical methods to support clinical development from early to late phases. The position requires a strong quantitative leader who can foster a culture of scientific rigor and creativity while managing a diverse team.

Responsibilities

  • Foster effective quantitative support with scientific innovation and regulatory rigor across projects in the renal disease area.
  • Support and develop a team of up to 20 biostatisticians through targeted hiring, assignment, and retention.
  • Define and lead functional initiatives to build the biostatistics line function and facilitate knowledge sharing.
  • Build connections with cross-functional leaders and external stakeholders, including regulators.
  • Drive strategic statistical input and excellence in drug development within the Cardio Renal Metabolic unit.
  • Represent the biostatistics function at internal and external decision boards.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Statistics or equivalent with 14+ years of relevant work experience, or a PhD with 10+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to influence decision-making through innovative options and quantitative statistics for complex projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of cutting-edge statistical methods and expert understanding of the drug development process.
  • Record of successful implementation of novel methods or innovative strategies in drug development.
  • Ability to identify opportunities for machine learning and new technologies to add value.
  • Significant experience in Health Authority activities.
  • Experience in leveraging and maximizing contributions from diverse teams.
