About the position

As a CBRE Health, Safety and Environment Director, you will oversee the department responsible for creating and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs for clients. This role is crucial in safeguarding employees and surrounding communities through effective organizational programs and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide formal supervision to employees, monitor training and development, conduct performance evaluations and coaching, and oversee recruiting and hiring.
  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff.
  • Approve all playbook and procedure changes, ensuring Health, Safety, and Environmental initiatives drive program consistency and efficiency.
  • Review operational and safety risks, executing strategic risk management strategies to avoid potential incidents.
  • Act as the point of contact for government agencies, professional organizations, community advisory boards, and internal safety efforts.
  • Provide information to senior management about health, safety, and environmental issues, compliance, trends, performance, and concerns.
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance needs are met across all accounts.
  • Apply knowledge of multiple disciplines and key drivers impacting departmental and cross-functional performance.
  • Lead by example, model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values, and persuade colleagues to act in alignment with business plans.
  • Negotiate with external partners, vendors, and customers to reach common goals.
  • Identify and solve complex operational and organizational problems using appropriate resources.
  • Improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within the job discipline.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-12 years of relevant experience, or a combination of experience and education.
  • Experience in staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, and performance management is preferred.
  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive information and handle complex problems.
  • Leadership skills to manage and achieve targets impacting multiple departments.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Expert organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Health, Safety, and Environment within the Life Science Sector is strongly preferred.
