About the position

The Portfolio Strategy Analyst position within the Global Investment Research Division at Goldman Sachs involves a comprehensive role focused on analyzing and forecasting equity markets. The US Portfolio Strategy group is dedicated to identifying key themes and factors that drive equity markets, as well as evaluating the attractiveness of investments across various sectors. This role is pivotal in advising institutional investors on strategies aimed at profit maximization and effective risk management for their equity portfolios. As an Analyst, you will work closely with the Chief US Equity Strategist and collaborate with other team members to analyze and interpret large datasets related to equities. Your ability to present data and conclusions in a clear and efficient manner will be essential, especially when communicating findings to senior stakeholders. You will also be responsible for recommending equity investment strategies that involve index performance, sector allocation, and macroeconomic themes through well-structured written reports. Collaboration is key in this role, as you will engage with macro and single-stock groups within the research division, as well as communicate with the sales force, traders, and external clients. Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Economics, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), Finance, or Accounting.
  • 1+ years of work experience in a relevant field.
  • Understanding of statistical analysis and experience with Excel is required; familiarity with packages such as SAS, R, MATLAB, Stata, etc. is preferred.
