As a Global Manufacturing Process Excellence Engineer at MSA Safety, you will play a pivotal role in driving best-in-class manufacturing standards for process excellence within the textiles division. Your primary responsibility will be to serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for manufacturing processes, benchmarking both external and internal practices to ensure that MSA remains at the forefront of industry standards. You will document standard manufacturing processes and requirements, manage the roadmap for transitioning current processes to new standards, and plan the necessary budgets and resources to support these initiatives through the annual planning processes. In this role, you will support the implementation of new Operations Technology global process standardizations, which include both physical and digital solutions. This will involve defining the enterprise manufacturing process for each product and evaluating partnerships with external best practice networks to stay updated on the latest process improvements and lean practices. You will be responsible for developing scalable processes and actively participating as the voice of Operations on Global Steering Teams for each product. Your leadership will be crucial in facilitating Manufacturing Process Standardization activities across the Operations value stream. You will coordinate and facilitate the benchmarking and assessment methods used by the manufacturing operations standardization team, educating implementation targets on best practices and standard processes. Additionally, you will oversee the day-to-day progress of manufacturing process standardization implementation projects, ensuring they meet aggressive schedules, budgets, and quality standards. This includes establishing project management practices, developing reports to communicate project status, and mentoring project team members to foster cross-functional collaboration. You will also work closely with Continuous Improvement teams to establish process performance monitoring and create a Community of Practice (CoP) among manufacturing sites with similar competencies. Continuous feedback from stakeholders will be essential to identify and resolve issues, and you will utilize metrics and analytical tools to pinpoint areas for improvement. Reporting metrics to the leadership team will help in tracking progress and addressing root causes for process corrections or improvements. Furthermore, you will collaborate with Plant and Engineering teams to guide the development of CAPEX requests and partner with R&D and OT peers to evaluate the manufacturability of new products, ensuring designs are optimized for efficiency and scalability.
