About the position

The Global Autoimmunity Medical Director will provide strategic and functional leadership for the Autoimmunity Team and the ImmunoDiagnostics Division, focusing on developing strategies to enhance the division's growth in the autoimmunity medical domain. This role involves raising awareness of autoimmune diseases, developing publication strategies, and providing medical expertise to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develops medical strategy globally for raising awareness internally and to external partners in the medical fields which treat patients with autoimmune diseases.
  • Develops publication strategy globally to strengthen IDD products performances and medical pertinence.
  • Gains a deep understanding of the medical environment to effectively apply expertise in relevant disease states, new treatments/tests, and commercial products from other manufacturers.
  • Provides medical and clinical expertise to both internal collaborators and external customers.
  • Keeps internal team members updated on disease state changes, clinical diagnostics algorithms, competition, and key opinion leader insights related to the products.
  • Attends and actively participates in medical programs at congresses and company-sponsored symposia.
  • Proactively works to maintain and develop a high level of global autoimmunity Key Opinion Leaders.
  • Participates in the Post Market Surveillance process.
  • Leads Clinical Advisory Board for autoimmunity.
  • Reviews and approves advertising, promotional, scientific, and educational materials in agreement with global business partners.
  • Translates medical affairs resources into materials for other internal collaborators.
  • Leads global strategy and development of processes and capabilities that optimize the delivery of medical services.
  • Develops successful relationships and partners with cross-functional Business Unit team members.
  • Coordinates the establishment of the global autoimmunity affairs team.

Requirements

  • An advanced degree (MD or MD/PhD) or equivalent experience is required.
  • Significant experience in the diagnostics or medical device industry (including consultancy and academia).
  • A manager who is collaborative and who empowers their team.
  • Previous work in clinical diagnostics laboratory is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a field that focuses on autoimmune patients (e.g. rheumatology) is strongly preferred.
  • Effective in a dynamic, highly matrixed global environment.
  • Relationship architect; able to build a strong network of influential supporters.
  • Must be a great teammate with strong problem-solving and strategic influencing skills.
  • Requires the ability to effectively articulate highly technical/complex scientific data and concepts to audiences with differing scientific and medical knowledge.
  • Must have proven track record to perform successfully under exacting timelines and with changing and exciting projects.
