About the position

The Global Payroll Manager at Commure + Athelas is responsible for overseeing and managing payroll operations across multiple countries for a technology and services company with over 2,000 employees. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and compliant payroll processing while providing strategic insights to support the organization's growth. The position requires extensive experience in building payroll processes and systems, a deep understanding of international payroll regulations, and the ability to lead a team effectively. This is a remote full-time position that operates in Pacific Standard Time.

Responsibilities

  • Own the comprehensive payroll process for a global technology and services company with over 2,000 employees.
  • Oversee global payroll operations and review payroll-related changes, including benefits and tax deductions.
  • Manage ad-hoc employee equity settlements.
  • Review month-end journal entries and reconciliations for payroll accounts and participate in the month-end close process.
  • Ensure full compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations.
  • Partner with Human Resources, Technology, and Business Support teams to implement a third-party payroll system in Bangladesh.
  • Assess the scalability of payroll processes and technologies continually.
  • Oversee outsourced payroll functions in India and plan for potential in-house transition.
  • Establish and enforce global payroll policies, procedures, and controls for compliance across regions.
  • Lead and manage cross-functional payroll projects from initiation to completion.
  • Conduct end-to-end payroll-related audits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of payroll management experience, preferably in a global environment.
  • Strong knowledge of international payroll laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Rippling, Fidelity) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with employees at all levels.
  • Experience in managing and developing a payroll team.
  • Relevant payroll certifications (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)) are a plus.
  • Ability to adapt to changing regulations and work in a fast-paced environment.
