About the position

RTI International is seeking a Global Payroll Specialist responsible for processing domestic and international payrolls. This role involves maintaining payroll records, filing tax reports, processing deductions, preparing accounting transactions, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The specialist will also handle payroll-related inquiries and assist with audits and management reports.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all necessary activities to complete semimonthly and monthly payroll, including time collection, new hires, terminations, PTO balances, tax forms, garnishments, retro pay, overtime pay, deductions, international allowances, bonuses, off-cycle checks, and check delivery.
  • Resolve and respond to payroll processing and employee payroll issues.
  • Respond to outside requests for payroll information such as employment and wage verifications, garnishment inquiries, and tax notices.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll files, systems, and reports in compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Assist with responses to audit, regulatory, and general ledger inquiries.
  • Prepare journal entries and assist with quarter and year-end processing.
  • Prepare relevant and requested management reports and audits.
  • Assist with system tax updates and testing.
  • Adhere to standard operating procedures and support additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and 4 years of experience, Associate's Degree and 0 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and within teams.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficient knowledge of payroll tax and labor laws, garnishment requirements, payroll recordkeeping and reporting regulations.
  • Understanding of HIPAA and FLSA regulations.
  • Understanding of Payroll and reporting systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with payroll processing and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with finance and accounting platforms.
