About the position

Eaton Corporation is currently seeking a Global Positive Employee Relations Leader, a pivotal role that can be performed remotely from any US-based home office. This position is designed for an expert in employee and labor relations, tasked with providing leadership and vision to enhance Eaton's global positive employee relations strategy. The successful candidate will proactively identify and respond to potential organizing activities while fostering a culture of trust, open communication, and mutual respect within the organization. The role requires a deep understanding of various aspects of employee relations, including recruiting methods, employee listening initiatives, and the analysis of voice survey results. The leader will also need to be well-versed in manufacturing culture, effective communication strategies, employment laws and regulations, works council relations, and campaign responses. This position involves leading global teams, providing guidance, and executing HR strategies that align with overall business objectives. The Global Positive Employee Relations Leader will be responsible for leading cross-functional teams to improve processes and programs, analyzing the long-term impact of new strategies, and ensuring a compliant and ethical work environment across Eaton's 600+ global locations. In this role, the leader will spearhead projects that involve innovative solutions for complex employee relations issues, conduct analyses on metrics related to incidents and resolutions, and maintain oversight of long-term roadmaps for employee relations initiatives. They will also oversee the review of policies and procedures, participate in the development of employee relations training, and provide regular reporting on employee and labor relations activities to enhance organizational health and maturity. The leader will design and implement comprehensive positive employee relations strategies, conduct risk assessments for potential union activities, and create communication plans to reinforce the company's employee relations philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Leads projects that involve identifying innovative solutions and initiatives for novel abstract problems pertinent to a range of employee relations subjects and putting in place new strategies, processes, and programs after a thorough review of their expected long-term impact.
  • Performs analyses on metrics around incidents, investigations, case conflicts, escalations, and resolutions. Identifies root causes and makes appropriate modifications to policies and practices.
  • Maintains oversight for long-term roadmaps for employee relations initiatives.
  • Oversees review of policies and procedures related to employee relations, conflict management, and workplace conduct to identify continuous improvement opportunities in line with business strategies and ensure their compliance with relevant laws.
  • Participate in the development and deployment of ER-related training, including dedicated ownership over international training efforts.
  • Provide regular reporting of employee and labor relations activity and results to drive organizational health and maturity.
  • Serve as a member of the Employee Relations Leadership Team working to scale and refine the function, including the development of reactive and proactive initiatives, production of data analytics, and providing global employee relations support, thus ensuring an equitable and transparent employee experience across the company.
  • Design and implement comprehensive positive employee relations strategies, responses to potential union organizing, and programs tailored to the organization's needs.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential union activity hotspots and develop action plans accordingly.
  • Create communication plans to reinforce the company's employee relations' philosophy and educate employees on the benefits of direct communication with management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor laws and union activities to ensure compliance and preparedness.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel as necessary to address labor relations issues and develop appropriate responses to union campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree (preferred) in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Employee/Labor Relations from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in Human Resources in the manufacturing industry in both union and union-free environments.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in Labor Relations with a strong emphasis on leading responses to union organizing campaigns involving 100-1,000 employees.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Global Employee/Labor Relations.
  • Experience operating as an executive in a global labor employee relations role, partnering with international groups and teams such as the European Works Council.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading responses to union organizing campaigns.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future.
