About the position

Eaton Corporation is seeking a Global Positive Employee Relations Leader who will be responsible for shaping and implementing the company's global positive employee relations strategy. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture of trust, open communication, and mutual respect across Eaton's 600+ global locations. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge in employee and labor relations, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential organizing activities. The position requires a leader who can effectively communicate and collaborate with various stakeholders, ensuring that employee relations practices align with the company's business objectives and comply with relevant laws and regulations. The Global Positive Employee Relations Leader will lead cross-functional teams to enhance processes and programs, analyze the long-term impact of new strategies, and maintain a compliant and ethical work environment. This role involves overseeing the development and deployment of employee relations training, conducting risk assessments to identify potential union activity hotspots, and creating communication plans that reinforce the company's employee relations philosophy. The leader will also be responsible for regular reporting on employee and labor relations activities, ensuring transparency and equity in the employee experience. In addition to these responsibilities, the Global Positive Employee Relations Leader will coordinate with legal counsel to address labor relations issues and develop appropriate responses to union campaigns. The position requires a strong emphasis on strategic thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to navigate complex employee relations challenges in a global context.

Responsibilities

  • Leads projects that involve identifying innovative solutions and initiatives for novel abstract problems pertinent to a range of employee relations subjects and putting in place new strategies, processes, and programs after a thorough review of their expected long-term impact.
  • Performs analyses on metrics around incidents, investigations, case conflicts, escalations, and resolutions. Identifies root causes and makes appropriate modifications to policies and practices.
  • Maintains oversight for long-term roadmaps for employee relations initiatives.
  • Oversees review of policies and procedures related to employee relations, conflict management, and workplace conduct to identify continuous improvement opportunities in line with business strategies and ensure their compliance with relevant laws.
  • Participate in the development and deployment of ER-related training, including dedicated ownership over international training efforts.
  • Provide regular reporting of employee and labor relations activity and results to drive organizational health and maturity.
  • Serve as a member of the Employee Relations Leadership Team working to scale and refine the function, including the development of reactive and proactive initiatives, production of data analytics, and providing global employee relations support, thus ensuring an equitable and transparent employee experience across the company.
  • Design and implement comprehensive positive employee relations strategies, responses to potential union organizing, and programs tailored to the organization's needs.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential union activity hotspots and develop action plans accordingly.
  • Create communication plans to reinforce the company's employee relations' philosophy and educate employees on the benefits of direct communication with management.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor laws and union activities to ensure compliance and preparedness.
  • Coordinate with legal counsel as necessary to address labor relations issues and develop appropriate responses to union campaigns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree (preferred) in Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or Employee/Labor Relations from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in Human Resources in the manufacturing industry in both union and union-free environments.
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in Labor Relations with a strong emphasis on leading responses to union organizing campaigns involving 100-1,000 employees.
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in Global Employee/Labor Relations.
  • Must have experience operating as an executive in a global labor employee relations role, partnering with international groups and teams such as the European Works Council.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading responses to union organizing campaigns.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship both now and in the future.
