About the position

Abbott is seeking a Global Product Manager for Upstream Marketing to join our team in St. Paul, MN. This role is pivotal in contributing to the ongoing success and growth of our advanced vessel preparation products business. As a Product Manager, you will represent Upstream Global Marketing on cross-functional teams and groups for your assigned projects, playing a crucial role in the development of new products or the enhancement of existing product lines. Your expertise will be essential in providing technical and product knowledge to downstream and commercial teams regarding products on the roadmap. In this position, you will be responsible for collecting and interpreting voice of customer (VOC) input while monitoring competitive activity to define market requirements. You will also conduct market research to inform business plans and evaluate product performance, market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to identify new product opportunities. Developing business cases for new opportunities will be a key responsibility, which includes defining market and customer needs, financial modeling, and data analysis to quantify sales and profit potential. Collaboration is vital in this role, as you will work closely with R&D to translate customer requirements into innovative solutions. You will provide leadership by representing the customer within internal project teams and managing the marketing aspects of projects involving cross-functional groups. Additionally, you will partner with downstream and commercial teams to develop initial launch and communication plans, ensuring that the marketing strategies align with the overall business objectives. Your ability to present and negotiate with cross-functional teams will be essential in executing global market strategies and advancing the business.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and interpret voice of customer (VOC) input and monitor competitive activity to define market requirements.
  • Monitor, analyze, and evaluate product performance, domestic & international market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to identify market and/or new product opportunities.
  • Develop the business case for new opportunities including defining the market and customer needs, financial modeling, and data analysis to quantify sales and profit.
  • Collaborate closely with R&D to translate customer requirements into innovations.
  • Work with clinical, regulatory, R&D, and other functions to help inform the pipeline strategy.
  • Provide leadership by representing the customer with internal project teams.
  • Manage the marketing aspects of projects involving cross-functional groups.
  • Provide leadership for assigned programs as the product expert to downstream and commercial marketing teams and with customers.
  • Partner with downstream and commercial teams to develop initial launch and communication plans.
  • Present and negotiate with cross-functional teams to execute global market strategies and actionable market plans.
  • Understand project timelines and make recommendations based on risk analysis when projects are off course.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree with at least 4-6 years related experience, with at least one year experience in marketing or product management, or MBA with 1-3 years related experience.
  • Product management experience in medical products or services preferred.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, strategic planning, critical thinking, and analysis of market conditions.
