About the position

The Global Programs Manager at the University of Wisconsin-Madison will be responsible for managing a portfolio of study abroad and global engagement programs for business students. This role involves advising students, coordinating with faculty and staff, and ensuring the quality delivery of international programs. The manager will also oversee the application process, maintain program information, and support students throughout their study abroad experience.

Responsibilities

  • Advise students in 1:1 appointments, via email, and in group meetings/presentations on study abroad experience and requirements.
  • Maintain program pages for assigned programs, serving as a primary source of information for students.
  • Discuss student concerns about studying abroad, including finances, identity, accommodations, housing, and travel documents.
  • Liaise with appropriate offices and study abroad program partners/providers to provide support and guidance.
  • Manage the development, logistics, and coordination of pre-departure orientation sessions and workshops for study abroad participants.
  • Counsel and advise study abroad participants on requesting course equivalencies and communicate directly regarding final grades and course approval decisions.
  • Monitor and process course approval requests submitted by students in the course equivalency database.
  • Review study abroad applications for WSB global programs and manage the application process for assigned programs.
  • Oversee ongoing evaluation of the application and admission process, soliciting feedback to improve future processes.
  • Participate in Global Programs team meetings and training sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred in a relevant field.
  • Minimum two years of administrative experience in an international education or student services office.
  • Experience studying, living, or working abroad.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Experience with databases and spreadsheets.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience studying, living, or working in Spain and/or Spanish-speaking locations.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Familiarity with developing and managing short-term instructor-led study abroad programs.
