About the position

The Global Quality Black Belt position at SEE is a critical role focused on leading and managing quality improvement projects across multiple sites and customer locations. The successful candidate will be an experienced problem-solver and project manager, adept at utilizing a data-driven 8D problem-solving methodology to address quality issues. This role requires the ability to build and lead cross-functional teams, ensuring that quality problems are identified, prioritized, and resolved effectively. The position involves overseeing multiple high-priority projects of medium to large scope, necessitating strong project management skills and a deep understanding of quality improvement processes. Key responsibilities include project identification, selection, and prioritization, as well as the development of project charters. The Global Quality Black Belt will lead containment activities and facilitate DMAIC-based Kaizen events, ensuring that root cause investigations are thorough and data-driven. This includes developing Failure Tree Analysis (FTA), coordinating trials, and executing data collection and analysis. The role also involves brainstorming and selecting solutions, reporting on project statuses, and assisting technical leaders in achieving project objectives. A champion of the 8D problem-solving methodology, the Global Quality Black Belt will ensure disciplined project execution and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the organization.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other technical discipline required
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience, preferably in manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt required, Black Belt preferred) including both statistical and non-statistical techniques
  • Project Management experience required including schedule creation and communication plans
  • Good communication skills (written, verbal, and listening)
  • Experience with 8D problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong ability to present technical information
  • Project coaching experience preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to motivate and support a broad team
  • Ability to influence others without formal authority
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally with groups in all areas of the business
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) required
  • Experience with Minitab or similar software required
  • SAP or similar manufacturing data systems experience required
  • Experience with plastics manufacturing, extrusion, printing, or converting preferred
  • Must have the ability to work on-site in any of our manufacturing facilities.
