About the position

The Global Social Media Analyst position at 3M offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the Abrasives Systems Division (ASD) by enhancing its social media presence. This role is designed for a creative and driven individual who is eager to engage with diverse teams and leverage innovative strategies to foster community growth and engagement. As a Global Social Media Analyst, you will be responsible for defining global social media and influencer strategies, ensuring best practices are followed across various platforms. You will manage the development and publishing of social media content calendars, which includes planning, copywriting, content creation, proofreading, approvals, and scheduling, while collaborating with necessary parties, including agencies. In this role, you will act as a primary user of corporate social media tools, engaging in content publishing, competitive analysis, social moderation, asset management, and routing and approvals. You will also maintain a working document that includes relevant Frequently Asked Questions and crisis communication scenarios, which are essential for effective community management. Your responsibilities will extend to building brand awareness through ongoing community management and implementing search and engagement tactics. You will report on social media performance monthly, quarterly, and annually, tracking competitive metrics to identify areas for optimization and content opportunities. Additionally, you will conduct yearly competitive analyses to monitor the industry landscape and engage with influencers on social channels to leverage user-generated content. You will ensure synergies between organic and paid social media efforts, assisting in ad creation and coordination for both organic and paid social initiatives. Your role will also involve auditing global social channels to gather insights for localizing content and sharing best practices across regions. You will lead production and manage social media photo and video shoots, adhering to 3M's Corporate Media Policy and overall brand standards. Staying updated with the latest social trends and assisting with social media research for product launches will be key components of your role, as will providing ad-hoc support for digital media efforts and social selling strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Define global social media and influencer strategies and best practices for the Abrasives Systems Division.
  • Manage the development and publishing of social media content calendars, including planning, copywriting, content creation, proofreading, approvals, and scheduling.
  • Act as a primary platform user for corporate social media tools, including content publishing, competitive analysis, social moderation, asset management, and routing and approvals.
  • Maintain a working document with relevant Frequently Asked Questions and crisis communication scenarios.
  • Build brand awareness and engage the audience with ongoing community management and search and engagement tactics.
  • Report monthly, quarterly, and annually on social media performance and ongoing competitive tracking to identify areas for optimization or content opportunities.
  • Develop a yearly competitive analysis to monitor the industry landscape.
  • Engage with influencers on social channels and identify opportunities for leveraging user-generated content.
  • Maintain synergies between organic and paid social media, developing frequent touch points with the Paid Media lead.
  • Assist in ad creation and coordination for organic/paid social and search, including copywriting and visual creation.
  • Audit global social channels to garner insights on localizing content and sharing with other regions.
  • Manage social content repository for global replication, aggregating posts by portfolio and uploading content to the data asset management system.
  • Lead production and manage social media photo and video shoots.
  • Follow 3M Corporate Media Policy and Governance and overall brand standards.
  • Assist with sharing best practices and learnings company-wide.
  • Stay up to date with the latest social trends, both industry-related and across other verticals.
  • Assist with social media research and asset creation for current and upcoming product launches.
  • Provide ad-hoc support with digital media efforts, YouTube channel optimization, and content management.
  • Assist in social selling strategies and provide global social assets to be used by 3M employees and sales reps.
  • Work to develop new skills, share outwardly with teams, and increase digital marketing capacity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university.
  • Five (5) years combined experience in digital marketing and/or marketing communications, with a focus on social media and influencer marketing in a private, public, government or military environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Technology fluent with a good understanding of primary global social media platforms and tools.
  • Experience with MS Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, Sprinklr, Workfront.
  • Strong affinity to new media formats - photography, design, copywriting, video production.
