About the position

The Global Supply Manager (Raptor) at SpaceX is responsible for managing the supply chain for the Raptor program, focusing on high-quality aerospace components and assemblies. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and strategic negotiation skills to ensure that suppliers meet the demanding production requirements of the Raptor engines. The position involves collaborating with engineering teams, conducting supplier assessments, and driving cost reduction initiatives while maintaining quality and efficiency in the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the supply base supporting critical commodities/categories for the Raptor product line.
  • Leverage demand forecasts and design releases to ensure manufacturing capacity and quality yield.
  • Provide guidance on design for manufacturability and cost reduction strategies.
  • Collaborate with engineering on design reviews and supplier quality requirements.
  • Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis for sourcing decisions.
  • Visit supplier facilities to assess technical capability and capacity.
  • Monitor and manage costs to adhere to project budgets and forecasts.
  • Develop should-cost models for competitive cost analysis.
  • Drive continuous process improvement with suppliers.
  • Administer contracts and negotiate terms with suppliers.
  • Prepare and analyze RFx packages for project requirements.
  • Issue purchase orders for SpaceX programs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and government regulations.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and 4+ years of experience in engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material planning, operations, or supply chain management; OR bachelor's degree and 6+ years of experience; OR 10+ years of experience in relevant fields.

  • Experience reading drawings and quality documents.
  • Prior experience managing large value contracts and global supply base.
  • Experience in sourcing machined components and assemblies.
  • Experience in optimizing machining supply chains.
  • Technical procurement and New Product Introduction experience.
