About the position

The Global Technical Sales Manager is a critical role responsible for driving sales in the Americas for Vertiv's E&I EMS & Automation products. This position involves providing technical sales support to Vertiv direct sellers and LVO sales offices, increasing product awareness among key consulting engineers and contractors, and developing relationships to gain insights on strategic projects. The role focuses on driving sales growth through engagement with key engineering firms and large project opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Vertiv actively and cultivate high-level relationships with key engineering firms, contractors, and general contractors.
  • Provide large project sales leadership to maximize Vertiv's win rate, including specification CDE review, competitive situation analysis, and overall sales strategy development.
  • Provide technical support for key client engagements, including assistance with concept power architectures and technical guidance for product selection.
  • Manage EMS & Automation business accounts in partnership with dedicated account managers for select key accounts.
  • Create industry awareness through attendance and presentations at industry events.
  • Educate selling entities on application-focused system architectures.
  • Collaborate with Vertiv and E&I Sales Managers to provide sales insights and ensure proposals align with customer needs.
  • Participate in key customer factory visits when appropriate.
  • Provide industry feedback to product managers for product improvements and roadmaps.
  • Guide product management and executive teams on market dynamics and customer needs.
  • Participate in account planning efforts and engagement strategies for key clients.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations for industry events to establish Vertiv's thought leadership.
  • Maintain a database to track Vertiv's influence in key engineering and GC accounts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
  • Technical knowledge of EMS/Automation/Switchgear products and applications.
  • Deep market dynamics and industry knowledge.
  • Experience working on large, complex RFQs.
  • Experience working with Sales Offices.
  • Excellent sales credibility and self-confidence to handle customer relationship issues.
  • Sales presentation skills, both in-person and virtual.
  • Large group presentation skills, both in-person and virtual.
  • At least five years of industry sales experience.
