The Global Power Generation Technical Specialist is a critical role within the Technical Integration Group, serving as a risk management resource for clients and contributing to AIG's reputation as a leading global insurance organization. In this role, you will work closely with clients, underwriters, and risk engineers to identify and mitigate various risks to their businesses, including fire, flood, windstorm, and equipment breakdown. Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary; one day you may assist an Account Risk Engineer in understanding the risks associated with power generation equipment, while the next day you may support an underwriter in evaluating new accounts or writing internal technical documents. As a Global Power Generation Technical Specialist, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact by supporting underwriting evaluations, performing property loss prevention reviews, managing training and personnel development, and contributing to the development of technical risk engineering guidelines and processes.

Responsibilities

  • Support underwriting in evaluation of power generation occupancy risk including specific rotating equipment.
  • Perform property loss prevention reviews on power generation accounts.
  • Manage training and personnel development within the power generation team and establish and maintain training and development plans.
  • Work closely with underwriting to obtain and maintain clients.
  • Contribute to the development of technical risk engineering guidelines, bulletins, processes, and tools.
  • Partner with Distribution and Underwriting to enhance client relationships and promote engineering capabilities.
  • Provide engineering data system support/guidance and stay abreast of system-related issues.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge of losses and developing technology.
  • Work with regional and zonal Risk Engineering Managers to support TIG in the continued development of globally consistent client support and risk reviews.

Requirements

  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of highly protected risk, specialized industry and/or boiler and machinery field experience.
  • Coal Rotation Power Plant and Gas Turbine experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or equivalent industry knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills - both oral and written.
  • Ability to manage schedule with quick response to requests which could require 'off hour' responses and occasional online meetings attendance.
  • Ability/willingness to travel to client and account meetings as well as technical conferences on occasion as requested.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Engineer, Certified Fire Protection Specialist Designation, or similar (desired but not required).
  • Ability to perform reviews of buildings and other structures.
  • Ability to read risk reports, construction drawings, diagrams, and related materials.
