About the position

The General Merchandise Expert at Target plays a crucial role in ensuring a consistent and welcoming shopping experience for guests. This position involves managing various operational tasks related to product availability, pricing, and presentation across the store, particularly in General Merchandise and Food areas. The role emphasizes guest service, teamwork, and efficiency, contributing to the overall success of the store's sales goals.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming experience by authentically greeting all guests
• Observe to quickly understand whether a guest needs assistance or wants to interact
• Engage with guests in a genuine way, asking questions to better understand their specific needs
• Be knowledgeable about the tools, products, and services available in the total store
• Thank the guest in a genuine way and let them know we're happy they chose to shop at Target
• Ensure sales floor is zoned, in stock and accurately signed and priced for guests
• Acknowledge guests while completing workload with minimal disruption
• Execute inbound, replenishment, backroom and signing processes for GM areas
• Execute processes including pricing, presentation sets, and inventory accuracy as directed by your leader
• Understand how operational procedures impact shortage, profitability, and inventory accuracy
• Operate power equipment only if certified
• Follow processes accurately with attention to detail
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance
• Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes
• Perform all other duties based on business needs

Requirements

• Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
• Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners
• Work both independently and with a team
• Resolve guest questions quickly on the spot
• Attention to detail and follow multi-step processes
• Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment
• Accurately handle cash register operations as needed
• Climb up and down ladders
• Scan, handle and move merchandise efficiently and safely
