About the position

The GM Certified Robotics Engineer position at Staff Heads LLC is a technical, hands-on role that requires a minimum of four years of experience in robotics engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, programming, and diagnosing robots, necessitating advanced technical knowledge and certifications. This role demands proficiency in programming, fieldbus, industrial electronics, machine tooling, joining, and process engineering. The ideal candidate will also exhibit strong leadership qualities and professionalism, as they will be expected to manage and mentor a small team of robot programmers. Candidates must possess a GM GRS certificate and a Fanuc DCS safety certification, along with letters of reference and a list of past projects to demonstrate their expertise. The position requires a self-motivated and technically savvy individual who can work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment. Due to the nature of the manufacturing industry, candidates should be prepared to work overtime, including possible day or night shifts, as well as weekends and holidays. Effective communication skills, both written and oral, are essential in this role, as is the ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications effectively. Candidates must also adhere to all Staff Heads policies and procedures and have reliable transportation. Extensive travel may be required depending on the specific job assignments. Preferred candidates will have at least five years of experience in the field of robotics and should be capable of loading offline programs and making necessary adjustments. The physical demands of the job include moving around tooling, standing for long periods, climbing ladders regularly, and lifting parts weighing at least 25 lbs. Any physical restrictions must be communicated during the application process to ensure appropriate accommodations can be made.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and diagnose robots in a manufacturing environment.
  • Support, manage, and mentor a small team of robot programmers.
  • Download Offline Programs (OLP) and make necessary adjustments.
  • Establish communication with PLC and peripheral equipment (Devicenet/Ethernet/Profinet).
  • Configure robot zones and adjust dress packs.
  • Perform robot I/O configuration and mastering, including TCP verification and payload setup.
  • Conduct auto debugging with PLC and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Implement cycle time reduction and throughput improvement strategies.
  • Utilize various robotic applications including Spot, Sealing/Dispensing, Stud, MIG, Riveting, Flow Drills, and Clinch Guns.
  • Work with vision systems as needed.
  • Complete daily or weekly required items to process hours and expenses.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in robotics engineering.
