About the position

The GME Program Coordinator position at UK HealthCare-Turfland is a vital role that supports the Preventive Medicine Residency and Endocrinology Fellowship programs. This position serves as the administrative coordinator for one or more graduate medical education (GME) programs, collaborating closely with the program director and the GME Office to ensure the effective daily operational management of the programs. The coordinator is responsible for adhering to the ACGME Institutional, Common Program, and Specialty Program Guidelines for Graduate Medical Education, which requires a comprehensive understanding of national accreditation policies and a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. In this role, the GME Program Coordinator will develop, initiate, and direct a wide range of programmatic activities. These activities include program planning, project development and management, recruitment, policy updates, and the utilization of databases and residency management software systems such as MedHub. The coordinator will interact with faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students, managing both internal and external program relations. This position is essential for the training program operations and acts as a primary resource for learners, faculty, and administrative staff. The coordinator will also serve as a liaison between the Residency Program Director, chief residents, residents, program faculty, the GME Office, and affiliated teaching sites regarding residency program matters. The GME Program Coordinator position is a requirement of the accrediting agency, the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), and is crucial for maintaining the standards and quality of the residency programs offered at UK HealthCare-Turfland.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the administrative coordinator for one or more graduate medical education (GME) programs.
  • Collaborate with the program director and the GME Office in daily operational management of the program(s).
  • Ensure compliance with ACGME Institutional, Common Program, and Specialty Program Guidelines for Graduate Medical Education.
  • Develop, initiate, and direct programmatic activities including program planning and project management.
  • Manage recruitment processes and update program policies as needed.
  • Utilize databases and residency management software systems (MedHub) for program operations.
  • Interact with faculty, fellows, residents, and medical students to manage program relations.
  • Act as a primary resource for learners, faculty, and administrative staff regarding residency program matters.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Residency Program Director, chief residents, residents, program faculty, GME Office, and affiliated teaching sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 2 years of related experience in administrative support or project management.
  • Willingness to obtain Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) certification within 3 years of hire date.

Nice-to-haves

  • Associates degree and three years of administrative, office, or project support experience preferred.
