About the position

The GMP Controls & Instrumentation Engineer at MilliporeSigma is a critical engineering role focused on providing electrical designs for projects, particularly in electrical power distribution. This position supports multiple sites and projects, ensuring compliance with GMP standards and enhancing operational efficiency through technical support and process improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Siemens Building Management System (BMS) programming, diagnostics, and troubleshooting for GMP facilities and systems.
  • Manage specifications for qualified site Siemens BMS components, including system drawings.
  • Review automation capital projects and guide project teams on BMS equipment selection.
  • Assist with HMIs and other automation equipment according to corporate procedures.
  • Work with IT to establish network segregation strategies.
  • Resolve quality problems and identify system issues with multi-functional teams.
  • Provide escalated technical process control support.
  • Ensure execution of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and efficiency of process improvement initiatives.
  • Establish standards and manage process control using Six Sigma/Lean methodology.
  • Support safety, energy, and environmental initiatives.
  • Guide the refinement of preventive maintenance functions on electrical systems.
  • Deliver project estimates, specifications, and electrical drawings, including medium and low voltage distribution systems.
  • Develop work relationships with site personnel to meet maintenance and project objectives.
  • Review and advise on equipment standards across sites and identify critical spare parts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or other Engineering discipline from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing controls engineering role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional Electrical Engineering license.
  • Chemical/pharmaceutical maintenance and/or project experience.
  • Working knowledge of GMP standards.
  • Experience with Emerson DeltaV or other DCS and Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Member of IEEE or other professional group.
  • Knowledge of data integrity and computer system validation requirements per CFR 210 Part 11, Annex 11.
  • Knowledge of common electrical codes/standards (NFPA 70E/497/499, NEMA, NEC, ISA 88/95, etc.).
  • Ability to read/review/redline relevant electrical and P&ID drawings utilizing ISA symbology.
