About the position

The Greater New Orleans Human Trafficking Task Force Coordinator plays a crucial role in preventing and responding to human trafficking in the New Orleans metro area. This position focuses on seamless collaboration between law enforcement, service providers, and community members, utilizing a victim-centered approach to deliver comprehensive services to survivors and proactively address human trafficking crimes. The Coordinator will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office and Covenant House New Orleans, to lead initiatives and coordinate operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings of the Greater New Orleans Human Trafficking Task Force and the Core Team leadership.
  • Oversee the objectives and progress of the GNOHTTF subcommittees.
  • Facilitate interactions with stakeholders regarding Task Force activities and upcoming events.
  • Assist with communication and support between victim service providers within the comprehensive case management network for trafficking victims.
  • Develop, provide, and facilitate outreach, awareness, and training events for the Task Force.
  • Assist with data collection, data evaluation, and grant progress reports of the GNOHTTF.
  • Research best practices for services and care for human trafficking survivors, including trauma-informed protocols and case management.
  • Research best practices on law enforcement protocols for proactive investigations and victim-centered, trauma-informed responses.
  • Facilitate dialogue between community stakeholders to improve cross-disciplinary communication and support conflict resolution between anti-trafficking stakeholders.
  • Provide support to the Core Team members and to the GNOHTTF members as needed, including assisting with developing proposals for additional funding.
  • Assist with requests for development and coordination of training.
  • Coordinate efforts to better inform and educate the Greater New Orleans community about the prevalence, scope, and nature of human trafficking.
  • Ensure trauma-informed and culturally competent engagement with underserved populations, including the LGBTQ community, foreign nationals, and racial minorities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of MOUs for stakeholders of the Task Force.
  • Support task force outreach efforts to victims of human trafficking to provide them with information about their rights and protections.
  • Help reinforce effective communication with stakeholders and coordination of outreach, awareness, and training events under the direction of the Core Team.
  • Serve as community liaison with partnering service providers, businesses, schools, and community groups for outreach purposes.
  • Organize best practice trainings for service providers, law enforcement agencies, and other critical stakeholders on human trafficking identification, investigation, and service delivery.
  • Liaison with other task forces and anti-trafficking practitioners at the regional, state, and national levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (B.A. or B.S. required; master's degree preferred in Public Health, Social Work, Public Policy, or Human Rights).
  • Experience with anti-human trafficking efforts required.
  • Experience with data collection and analysis.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of community partners in an engaging and collaborative manner.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with community organizing preferred.
