About the position

The Operations Manager at Barrick Gold is responsible for the safe and effective management of the Golden Sunlight Mine. This role encompasses all operational aspects, including mining and processing operations, equipment maintenance, technical services, planning and budgeting, cost control, and reclamation. The Operations Manager will lead the site in fostering a safety culture, managing stakeholder relationships, and ensuring the achievement of organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the site to develop and instill a safety culture that empowers employees to work safely.
  • Execute Barrick Gold North America's Health, Safety and Environmental plans at the site.
  • Develop and lead the operational and financial budget, including reclamation activities.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, planning, and scheduling to optimize plant reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement across all business facets including safety, environmental, operational, and financial.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct activities to meet specific timelines consistent with Barrick's values.
  • Lead personnel development and training to enhance team performance.
  • Identify risks and potential solutions, raising awareness for optimal resolution.
  • Represent the site and company within local host communities and oversee community development initiatives.
  • Hold the team accountable to ensure deliverables meet or exceed targets.
  • Implement policies and systems to manage operational and environmental risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in mine engineering, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive operational/management experience, with at least 2 years in Process operations.
  • Proven success in leading a strong safety culture.
  • Ability to establish and measure results regarding safety and productivity.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and develop a dedicated team and positive relationships with a diverse workforce.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to prepare and present reports accurately to all organizational levels.
  • Proven success in managing change processes.
  • Exemplary safety, performance, and attendance record.
  • Focus on talent assessment and career development for staff.
  • Ability to design, implement, and control projects.
  • Sound business judgment and knowledge of financial functions.
