About the position

The Open Pit Electrician position at Barrick Gold Corporation involves maintaining and repairing electrical systems on various heavy mining equipment. The role is crucial for ensuring the operational efficiency of electric shovels and haul trucks in an open pit mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair electrical systems on P&H 2800XPA/B and 4100 XPB/C electric shovels.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems on 930E and 830E Komatsu Haul Trucks.
• Maintain and repair electrical systems on 795F and 282 Liebherr haul trucks.
• Perform HV Switchgear and HV cable repairs.
• Carry out miscellaneous electrical duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two (2) years electrical experience in an open pit mining environment preferred.
• Industrial electrical experience preferred.
• Experience with programmable logic controls (PLC) SL504 and motor control circuits preferred.
• Experience with maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems on P&H 200XPA/B shovels and 685E, 930E electric haul trucks preferred.
• Ability to read electrical blueprints and utilize test equipment preferred.
• Ability to utilize basic hand tools required.
• MSHA electrical cards preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Capability to multi-task, self-manage, and self-motivate required.
• Demonstrated good attendance and performance records.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with high-voltage cable repairs preferred.
